Hellbound

My wife is and has always been a junk collector.  Luckily her interest in this pastime seems to be waning over the last year or so.  She has been voluntarily trashing it for a few months now.  I generally have no problem determining the 99% that is trash and the 1% that may have a use, but I do have a dilemma.  It's the head off of a Jesus statue.  I think I've got to keep it.  You think I'm joking, but I get a creepy feeling even thinking about putting it in the trash.  I remember once years ago when Ellen DeGeneres had a sitcom and she couldn't throw away a picture of Jesus that she had drawn when she was 12.  It was funny then, but when you're faced with it in reality, you have to seriously think about it.

Wait a minute, I just thought of a solution.  Merry Christmas, Duh Niece!!!  She still has a piece of driftwood I found on the river bank.  It looks like a reindeer head and I named it Ajax (it's Comet's brother...as in Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen, etc).  Every Christmas it appears with a red bow around its "neck".  Ajax has been in the family now for over twenty years.

I know I've done enough stuff to get a coach ticket to hell, but throwing that head away would be like cashing in my frequent flyer miles and getting an upgrade to first class.  Maybe re-gifting would just let me hang in purgatory for a few millenniums.  You think I'm joking!

"Ajax" is crushed. Not in the physical sense, mind you, but emotionally. Crestfallen and downtrodden, he has withdrawn to a hiding spot behind Duh Niece's entertainment center where he is safe from children using him for a hammer as well as protecting himself from PEOPLE WHO FORGET HIS NAME, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!!!!!! His name is Dutch, as in Old Dutch Cleanser. We're probably going to have to add some bells to his red bow this year to make up for this blow to his little psyche. Shame, shame on you. You better keep that head, for sure now.

His name is Dutch, isn't it?  I can't believe I forgot.  Actually I was protecting the innocent, as always.
